In the article, Steele discusses how people often fail to account for the impact of costs related to their physical health, and the disastrous results that can happen from neglecting to do so. Craig argues that health care remains the largest “avalanche issue” in retirement planning today. He goes on to explain that health care costs are difficult to quantify and especially hard to plan around. Craig recommends to readers that securing a financial planner to help with difficult and often confusing medical discussions is the best preventative medicine for retirees and pre-retirees.
